That doesn't necessarily have to be a mistake. I've been storing my equipment without silica gel in my traditional camera bags or backpacks for decades. All my lenses are crystal clear, even those for my Hasselblad from the '80s and my Rolleiflex from the '60s. However, I'm also more of a fair-weather photographer. This is the first time I've bought a used backpack, not a new one. Hopefully, I'll continue to be spared from this issue.
