Anyone with half a brain who bought it new and can't afford it surely wouldn't dump it for $1200 less than what it's worth as they would need to get every cent back out of the sale. And if they wanted a quick sale they could dump it same day for much higher than you bought it for. There are tons of user friendly web platforms to unload gear these days so there's not many reasons to dump it at a pawn shop for such a loss. Hard to believe a pawn shop owner could be so clueless too by selling it for way less than she could easily get it for.
Do you not understand that everyone does not want to deal with the public? There are too many crooks and dangerous people out there that getting more money is not worth the hassle for many of us. It's not like a real property where large amounts of money are involved. Even so, who has never in a lifetime decided to short sell something for expediency?

So it was you who pawned the new R5II for $2200??
Well, you know there are tons of other options to sell where you don't have to meet someone face to face and worry about getting robbed? You could even sell to reputable outfits like MBP or KEH for a lot more than that.
Joke of the day! These things loose value extremely fast. Biggest joke IMHO is the R1 price. Saw an R5II and the kit lens go for 3400 last week on e-bay. You just have to jump on the deals when they come. Especially on e-bay if not satisfied all you have to do is send it back for a refund.
