Re: Hiking Back Pack and Travel Pack

I use Mindshift Firstflight 40L or Mindshift Moose Peterson MP-3 when traveling. Both will take 600/4s TC.
MP-3 is the lightest but is only ok for traveling on a plane with some walking. I don't think it has enough support for day long hike. FirstFlight will be more comfortable to take on day hike but it is also heavier. MP-3 also has no slot for laptop or ipad which is annoying.
Shimoda is by far the most comfortable backpack I have. However, you will need their largest pack which is Action X70 which can take their largest core to accomodate 600/4s TC. The smaller X50 which can take large mirrorless or large DSLR core unit is too short for 600/4s TC. Unfortunately Action X70 is too big for some airline cabin especially low cost airline. It is a little over an inch longer than what most airlines allowed for carryon. I am very tempted but the pack itself is also almost 4 kg.
