Messerschmitt Me 262, " Schwalbe" was the world's jet fighter developed by Nazi Germany, it served in the tail end of WWII, too late to turn the tide. About 1400 were produced, whatever left from the war are all museum pieces, none is flyable. Five replicas were build in the US in the 1990's and the 2000's from plans created during the restoration of an original Me 262 now on display at the National Naval Aviation Museum in Pensacola, Florida. Only three of the five replicas are airworthy, one in Germany, one in Texas, and this one belongs to the Military Aviation Museum in Virginia.
Even though this is a replica, it's extremely rare to see one flying, this is my first time, I believe.
