ART. 10 (ii). Dramatic Tone.

Really good B&W photos Kevin. Luv the tonality!

To me these photos cement my desire to get OM-3 camera for travel. With a simple dial turn, custom B&W profile photos are instantly available. I have used Nik Silver Efexs for many years, bought it once, then Google took over and now the newest version by DXO needs to be bought again, so I passed on it. Plus it was always an afterthought in that a I had to have a computer to apply the B&W effects, which usually meant when I got home from the trip. But with this all being available now in camera, and the ability to quickly transfer photos to my iPhone-iPad on site, this camera becomes a buy for me. Order placed!

And the 20mm f1.4 is the perfect lens for this body!

Thank you ... and I think you're going to LOVE the OM3 + 20/1.4, for me it is a pairing made in heaven !

If my 2nd copy of the 17 II is also not good, I will consider the 20/1.4 or just stick with my Lumix 15/1.8

Bought the original Olympus 17 f1.8 and 25 f1.8 about 10 years ago, was never really impressed by either, the 17 was at least built of metal and had the OM clutch. Gave away the 25 f1.8 to a young photographer just starting out and finally went with the 17 f1.2 Pro, which is excellent.

Now that I have the 20 f1.4 Pro, even though just for a week, I feel it too is excellent. I can see it will be my mainstay lens on the coming OM-3, just like the Batis 40 f2 has become on my Sony A7CR. But it is smaller and lighter and I would love for OM to make a couple more WR f1.4 prime lenses like it, say at 12 to 14mm and at 25-35mm. Then hopefully make a WR version of the Oly 75 f1.8, do Nothing else to it as it is perfect to me except for the lack of WR and my best prime.

Among the lenses I owned for my Sony FF were the Batis 25, Batis 85 & Batis 135. Really liked them. I owned the CV 40/1.2 but decided I preferred 35mm and had the Sigma 35/2 and Sony 35/1.4 GM so never had the Batis 40

That is my challenge with the 20/1.4 being a 40mm focal length

The OM 17/1.2 Pro and SIgma 16/1.4 are about as big as my 8-25 and not personally what I want to use on the OM-3. I would love to see something like a 14-17/1.4 prime that is smaller than the 20/1.4

Have you handled the 20 f1.4? It is mid size between the 17 f1.8 and 17mm f1.2. It might surprise you as its weight of 247g is just about half-way between the f 1.8 version at 112 G and the f1.2 version at 390g. I definitely can feel the difference vs. the f1.2. Far as F/L a 40mm in many shooting situations is only a couple steps backwards from being a 35mm.

Luv my Batis, I have the same 3 as you did plus the 40. Also have the Sigma 35 f2 and 35 & 50 f1.4 GM, but I plan on selling all 3, as when shooting 61MP with A7RIV or CR, I like that my 4 Batis lenses have the same IQ look, contrast and color accuracy, plus the 85 and 135 have OIS. Its may be a small thing to some, but to me it was more important than the f1.4 aperture in my (now sold) 24 GM, and soon to sell 35 f1.4 a 50 f1.4 GM.
