I'm not sure I'd buy a 7D today unless it was a clean copy at a bargain price, but I do still have mine and use is occasionally. Still works great as long as you understand its limitations compared to more modern bodies, and it's been DURABLE (the Kai W. video is what convinced me to get one, too). I've taken some of my biggest sellers with my old 7D, and no one so far is the wiser about which camera I used.
Compared to newer bodies, of course it's lacking in AF and noise performance, but there's something to be said for using an older body like the 7D now and again as a learning/refreshing tool to improve your entire process - from image capture to post processing to final print - and that's kind of how I think of it today a lot of the time.
