I have never seen fawns before. To able to watch them be playful, curious and cautious over these past few months has been such a blessing.
I have learned from the neighbors, that you have to be very cautious with the doe during birthing season. After they are first born, the doe will leave them in the grasses and go off and forage for food. However, if you happen to be walking your dog and get in the vicinity of the fawn, mom ( who you probably do not see off in the distance ) will charge and stomp the dog and you if you are not careful . This has happened a couple of times this season in this area to some people walking dogs. Moms are very protective of their babies . As they grow older, some of the other members of the herd will be out with them. So neat to see them with the "big" boys as I call them. ( the 6 to 10 point bucks). These bucks do not tolerate anything, but let a little fawn come around and they can walk right up to them .
So, here are a few shots of some of the fawns .
As always your suggestions and comments are most appreciated.
I hope you enjoy and thank you for looking,
Birdie
