I'm beyond thrilled to see that the R5 II appears to be a return to form for Canon color and tonal rendering. My journey with the original R5 was a long and difficult one, eventually ending with my selling the whole kit and moving to Nikon Z. Could never get the colors where I wanted them, the sensor rendered landscape textures in an artificial way when stopped down, and the tonal balancing was inconsistent in a way that took up too much time to correct in post. Based on what I'm seeing on this forum and examples from youtube, the R5 II harkens back strongly to my favorite DSLR of all time, the 5D mark III (which I still use). Earth/skin tones are rendered gently while primary colors pop. White balance also seems to be much improved and the dreaded magenta cast to almost everything appears to be gone. I understand a lot of people here believe anything can be adjusted in post, but I've worked with seriously talented colorists and they were never able to replicate the color/tone of my 5D3. Curious to see how many here have similar observations.
