The only question is how much better will it be vs the latest Sony a7 (and Canon R6II but that bar is lower).
I believe that Nikon will have been targeting another Z8 moment with the Z6III.
Well the A7IV is a few years old now so it should be straight forward to be better is some areas. It will also be worse in some areas. I think the Z6III should have faster FPS, stronger video specs as examples. The A7IV has 24mpx and the Z6III will have 24mpx according to the rumors as one example. For now the A7IV will have a much stronger lens ecosystem in the focal lengths that the Z6III is likely to use. That is just how the industry works these days. Both will produce excellent stills and video.
Iirc, the A7IV is 33mp. I had one briefly before it continuously froze on me, and returned it. But when it did work, it was very well balanced. Great resolution for stills, great video internally. But for the unreliability I suffered, horrid UI and layout, I returned it. Still, for video I’m happy with 24mp as the low light in both photo and video is really good. As for the lenses, I think at this point, Nikon has covered what you could want. Portraits, wides, telephotos pretty well, plus you have Tamron and now Sigma is about to join up. For the money, neither Sony, Canon, or any other camera company can offer the optical quality at the price of Nikon Z 1.8 S primes. For example, with Sony or Canon, either you get a turd of a 50mm for $200 or you pay big bucks for their GMaster or RF line that’s over $1000. Nikon, their 50mm 1.8 S gets STELLAR optics, close to the GMaster for $560ish or $380 for a mint used one.
