Re: A1 Firmware v 2.01 is out now. On the fence about installing it though. :)
That is a fair price for a unit that is in spec and working correctly with the current firmware.
Pricing for a unit that is out of spec and not fully functional with the current firmware should reflect the cost of repair (~$1500 plus shipping, insurance, time and trouble) to bring it to full working order.
For example, if we assume that fair market value for an in-spec A1 in excellent condition is around $4500, pricing for one that is not fully functional with current firmware should be anywhere from $2500-$3000.
Buyers beware: Anyone purchasing an A1 should ascertain the functional status of the camera before agreeing to a price. In this case, the question to ask the seller is: "Is the camera fully functional with the current v2.01 firmware? Specifically, is the wireless functionality working with the Creators app?"
Absent any further action from Sony, we are going to start seeing multiple tiers in used A1 pricing in the same way we see multiple tiers in pricing for Leica M9s, depending on whether the sensor has been replaced, sensor is original with no corrosion, or sensor is corroded.

No, it's out out warranty. I don't use the wifi stuff, never tried it, probably never will. I haven't updated my several-month old A1 from FW 2.0 to 2.01 yet. I haven't tried the wifi on that one, don't even know how. I bought the used A1 here: https://www.fredmiranda.com/forum/topic/1855285/0?keyword=Sony,A1#16529522
