Tinkering results using the D850 with the EL-Nikkor 40mm f4 Reversed, PB-4, PS-5, homemade stage, and bits and bobs.
My Jonathon Apple tree is blooming extremely fast this year, and looks to be over in just a few days. the Photosynthesis site claims the 40mm f4 EL-Nikkor can reach between 5x-30x. All of these were not cropped except about 10% of the money plant, and cover a subject area of approximately 2-3 millimeters square. I just found a used X&Y mini stage with 5mm of travel on each axis - plus adhesive wax should make this even easier. I also focus stacked between 5-14 images for each of these.
Better than my first attempt - imo
