Imagine how many amazing images Dan would have posted over the last 5 years...

About the same number of photographs have created with the Canon and Fujifilm gear I have. (I've been posting a new photograph every day for the past two decades at https://gdanmitchell.com/ ...)

About the same number of (amazing or not) images I have created using the Canon and Fujifilm gear that I do use.

I've been posting a new photograph every day for the past two decades at https://gdanmitchell.com/ and, more recently, on social media. Recently I have been sharing photographs from a March visit to Death Valley NP. (I also sell and license photographs — not just "post them.)

My background is in music, and this endeavor has been an expression of the concept of "practice" — doing regular, daily work to keep things tuned up. I also write briefly about each posted photograph, which is another kind of "practice."

I try to subdue my lust for gear and prefer transfer that to a lust for making photographs. I do keep my eyes on technical advances so that when it is time to buy gear I can make choices that work well for me. So far I've been pretty successful at that, rarely ending up with stuff I later discover I didn't need, and developing set-ups that work very well for what I do. It turns out that keeping up with photographic gear developments even when not about to buy something has helped. (Though, if I'm honest, I do have a small number of lenses that don't get used that often.)
