I guess this was directed to me. As noted earlier I used the Nikon USA dealer list to get dealer names, then checked their web site. For those that allowed it, put my name on their "contact me when in stock list". Wound up waiting a little over three weeks to get a hit from a dealer in Ohio, and that is where I got mine. Then a few days after getting the lens from them got another email from a Las Vegas dealer saying they now had stock.
I usually shop at B&H for almost everything photography related, except when it comes to a new item that is in short supply and great demand. I find you almost always stand a much better chance of getting in in a reasonable time by adding your name to the smaller dealer lists. Hope that helps.
