Yellowstone and Grand Teton with my son (his pictures added)

A tradition in our family is for the kids to get to pick a special trip with dad when they turn 10 years old. My son picked Yellowstone/Grand Teton for his trip, which we did back in September. It was such a special time for me to get to spend with him enjoying nature, teaching him photography, and hanging out with one another. Here are a few of my favorites from the trip, all shot with the EF 100-400 v2 on an R6 Mark II.

Probably the highlight of the trip was seeing one of the Yellowstone grizzlies ("Jam" I think) right after some fresh snowfall on the east entrance road near Fishing Bridge. We weren't able to get too close, but I like these as environmental portraits.

We spent some time with a few pronghorn on the way out to Lamar Valley.

Of course, lots of bison all over the place.

We saw a lone bald eagle on the bank of the Madison River near the west entrance.

Plenty of moose in Grand Teton. We enjoyed watching a couple sparing on and off for about an hour.

Another highlight was watching a young black bear and mom eating berries up in a tree.

The Teton range makes such a good backdrop for any subject.

Finally, here is my son getting setup for a shot of some bison in Hayden Valley. Sorry for the long post, and thanks for looking!
