I think You should try out manual Laowa "Argus" 33/0.95 lens next time if You find this focal length works for You
And definitely try out Viltrox 27/1.2
This lens is sharp as hell, and actually has some character, some more organic rendering than XF 33/1.4
I find images from new XF 56/1.2 R WR more pleaseing than 33/1.4, but still I do prefer rendering from old XF 56/1.2 R way more
Thanks @BeatX for this deep insight. I completely agree with ur take on 33mm and newer 56mm. I also loved the character coming out of the gen 1 lenses from fujifilm, but that is applicable for me only in case of personal work like shooting for instagram influencers and street photography work. Mostly for event work like Parties, kids portraits, and wedding I would prefer LM WR (newer) lenses because of their fast AF.
You really have to be in an average Indian wedding to see how much chaos it is and in all that you dont want to miss the focus. This is the reason Canon and Sony are considered workhorses in Indian photography industry (esp in weddings)
I started my Fuji journey with original fuji 23mm f/1.4 R, 35mm f/1.4 R and 56mm f/1.2 R coupled with a XT4 body…but just after one wedding season i have to switch to newer LM Wr ones like 18mm f/1.4, 23mm f/1.4 LM WR and a used copy of 50mm f/1.0. I realised switching to these lenses made my work easier. i was gettig close to my Sony and Canon teammates in terms of AF.
Since i no longer shoot what i use to do in India now i am free to experimenting, but above all here in US i yet to develop a confidence of taking camera bag let alone the camera in public places…… i mean the place I live in, every now and then i hear and see bags and belongings being snatched and robbed from the pedestrians in broad daylight…!
