The following comment is not directed at sjms. I have known him for a long time and I respect all the points he makes. I do not know you gear-nut but still you have not been abrasive and that is appreciated.
My following comment is not directed toward anyone I have in mind. I see it as the same old problem: People cannot wait to give their opinions but they neglected to READ THE ORIGINAL POST BY THE OP.
There should have been a correction made when people started posting comments unrelated to the OP's opening point. And that was probably because they did not read the OP's opening themselves. They probably read a comment or two above their imminent post and then they posted. Just a guess.
Frankly *we did not want your opinions on anything else but the sensor*.... the sensor.... the sensor.
Yes, of course my Z8 is superior to my D850 in so many ways. IMO. Nikon grossly exaggerated what D850 could do in video. Deceptive? I don't know. But I used it for years on basins still/vids of loon........ until the pro-grade Z8 came along. To be fair to you Nikon, I made a lot of mistakes. trying to video Common loons (my work!) with the D850. I love my Z8... it is a super-exciting camera that does both (vids/stills) and now I just need to keep learning it
According to DXO, my D850's sensor is rated at 100, while my Z8 sensor is rated at 98. That is the only point I was making. There is NO subjectivity to this.
Of course my Z8 smokes my D850 (as mjgphotoz said above... she is right!). But this covers far more than the OP's question.
Ok, it's dead now....unless one of you wants to argue.
Robert
Robert, I want to clarify something, you quoted me, but the second paragraph only was my comment. I had quoted urbanwild in the first paragraph and was responding in jest, however the quote credit was somehow deleted and I could not correct it. My bad. sorry.
Mary
I apologize Mary. I misread your post. My mistake. And I do believe you.
No problem.
