This thread has drilled down the deepest of holes haha. I think many people on this board absolutely loved the D850 when it arrived and many have very clean, incredible files with it. 95% of images should be with good exposure and not pixel-peeped, so making comparisons with high zooms and ISOs is like comparing the rubber mats of a car when what matters is the body and what's under the hood.
The Z8 and Z9 smoke the D850 in shutter speed, AF, silent shooting, WYSIWYG, less / no fine tuning needed and lens selection.....all things that are under the hood and will help create better images. THAT'S what I really think of when I say the subject line of this thread is a bit silly and the world is leaving DSLRs behind for good reason. Appreciate the love towards the DSLRs still......my D500 was fun but the Z8 has opened more doors now.
