This does not mean that Z9 is getting more light, it just means that Z9 has a different tone curve
He's right, Dpreview messed up and exposed the Z9 about 1/2EV brighter. The Z8 is within 1/5EV though. Here's that comp at ISO 12,800 (the Z8 ISO 3200 file is corrupt in in their repository so I'm using ISO 12,800 instead), with RawDigger values for both the full image and color square.
