Change the eye piece to a soft extender, problem solved. Be creative with your purchases.
I ordered the soft-extender. They come from China, so I'll probably need to wait another week for delivery.
I sure hope that it works as I find the A7CR almost unusable in bright sunlight (admittedly, I generally I choose to avoid shooting in bright sunlight, but there are times when it cannot be avoided).
I have really mixed feelings about this camera. While, in one sense, it is a technical marvel, the lack of eye-cup and low-resolution EVF and LCD make me feel like I am shooting a ten year old camera. The small, recessed buttons and new On-off switch just add to the frustration of shooting this camera. I shoot back-button focus on the A1 and A7R5; and, when switch from those cameras to the A7CR, I miss some initial shots as I fumble to adjust to the new relative location of this button. For me, the price is high for the compactness and weight. I should have rented prior to purchasing.
Jeff, it is the same or at least, similar case as the early A1, in which the EVF could get dimmed if you shoot in a position when the sun hits the sensor of the viewfinder although indirectly? BTW, Am***n sells that soft extended eyecup and it is readily available.
Yeah, I experienced the A1 EVF dimming when it was first released, but this acts differently. I ordered the soft extended eyecup from Amazon. a week ago. Tracking shows that it is in customs in China, right now.
