The timing is almost a predictable as the switch in wind direction that brings the Monsoons to East Africa. The end of Daylight Savings Time, a strong Santa Ana condition, ending as a cold front moves down the coast from Alaska. We will get our first Winter rains of the season within a few days. This weather change always bring with it incredibly vivid sunsets. This one was proceeded by one of the strongest "Green Flash" events I have seen here.
Right on time, I officially declare the start of sunset season here in Southern California. I intend to capture a lot of them as part of my Boardwalk photographic project. This first one is of Pacific Beaches Crystal Pier. I saw the conditions developing about mid afternoon. So, I put my small table top tripod in my pants pocket. This let me shoot the image from the top of the Boardwalk Wall. I did bracket, but this one is a single exposure.
