Re: Mustang Air to Air: The Sequel

Thanks I just saw a post it took 300 yards of carbon to make the custom doghouse/scoop for Bardahl. It is actually what they believe is an improvement over the Voodoo design. Same guy did both of them.

It would have been interesting to see what the Bardahl Special would have really been capable of. Back in May the owner decided to take the stock P-51 and reconfigure it to win the last Reno. Both of the race Merlins from Voodoo would be rebuilt at Vintage V-12's, Voodoo's tail, engine, prop, a carbon fiber copy of the scoop and doghouse from Voodoo, instrument panel from Voodoo, a brand new custom carbon fiber intake trunk, and the heat exchanger from Strega. They qualified at 469mph using only 100 inches of manifold pressure, that engine was more than capable of 140 inches. Sadly with the T-6 mid-air we never got to see it at full song.

All of the parts that belong to Voodoo will eventually go back, and another attempt at the 3K record will be made.

Super series Tim! Hands on! My type of work..rather pleasure!
