I see Nikon back to their old selves - push a faulty product out, recall it, and somewhere down the line they'll push out a new version to make more money from those who bought the faulty model.
"We'll call it the Z8 II with some added shiny new feature so we can justify screwing over the beta testers (er, we mean customers) as they spend more money for something that should have gotten the first time around".
Nikon D800 to D810
Nikon D600 to D610
Nikon SB 900 to SB 910
Nikon Z8 to Z8 II
Its why I'll never buy an early first gen anything from Nikon - the consistency of the above.
And yes, I do have Nikon gear - Nikon D800E (got lucky with that one), and a D850 (but that body was out for 4 years before I bought one).
Really? But the "faulty" model is completely repairable so why on earth would they need to put out a Z8II? The consequent production runs will have no faults.
Every first run Nikon camera and lens that I have purchased has been faultless and I have had *a lot* of first runs cameras and lenses.
None of my cameras had any faults and were first run productions:
D7000, D800, D810, D850, Z7, Z7II, Z9 - Z8 the *only* first run production camera that I have had with a "fault" and that is being fixed right now. However, that supposed "fault" did not affect any of my 14 Z mount lenses, so is it really a fault?
So are you saying that you don't believe Nikon - that your Z8 has no faulty part - and that you think that Nikon's own Service Advisory is in fact just another example of the Deep State out to take down Nikon ?
Things are pretty weird on these Nikon forums
How on earth did you read into my statement that somehow I think there is Deep State trying to take down Nikon? What a bizarre statement. It is a simple enough concept to understand. My Z8 does not show an issue with any of my lenses being mounted on the camera but I have taken it in to Nikon to have it checked and probably repaired accordingly. The main technician at Nikon has reiterated that there have been less than 10 problems of the mount issue worldwide.
