I read your point about the swallows. Yes, it must be very difficult to keep one of these speedsters (Ricky Simpson's name for them ) in the viewfinder.
I wonder if *some* (surely not all) of the outstanding swallow shots we see are gotten by setting up over small, natural wet spots that the birds are sure to pass over.
