Some of them winter in the glades. During winter months, I accidentally ran over more than several while traveling the airboat trails. It's unavoidable. They hide in the sawgrass and fly out into the trail at the last instant. The good news is that they all flew off (airboat trails are 100% water). One even accidentally hit me in the chest.
I've never been lucky enough to get a shot of an American Bittern.
