Shot a year before the NPS closed it down because of vandalism. As of 2018 NPS has permanently closed access to this location.
I had hoped for some clear blue skies and had planned to shoot some milky way from inside, but as I travelled east...clouds started rolling in and by the time I got to Canyonlands, the skies turned dark, started my hike and literally 5 minutes later it started to snow. I sheltered in the area for a couple of hours to wait it out, but it just got colder and windier, I did not want to hike back out in the rain/snow later in the evening.
Composed some shots and left, with the snowfall getting heavier, the hike back out was not much fun and had to find couple of alternate areas. When I got back to the truck, NPS ranger was waiting and mentioned that he was getting ready to go look for me cuz they have some snow/sleet coming in later.
I didn't stick around and started my drive back to LA and around Kannarraville...it was blue skies again.
