Minor note about using the IROOA hood remake: I've discovered that on both the 35 8E and the 50 Elcan, their weight increases drag on the focusing ring by a noticeable amount. It's particularly noticeable (bordering on problematic) when shooting vertically. I'm assuming this is caused by the weight of the brass hood being hung out on the end of the lens barrel.
My IROOA hoods were part of the kits I bought (brass and titanium models), so I like having them – but I'm going to be putting them back in the box for safe keeping and buying a Leica 12504 hood for daily use.
