Nice to see you back 🤗

Hi Peire,

I would love to hear your opinion about how this lens preforms compared to the Sigma 24-70. I am basing it only on my long-term memory, (very risky these days) but I seem to member your Sigma images having a bit more color and contrast "pop". Do you agree or am I remembering your older images wrong?

Bill

Hi,

Sony GM 24-70/2.8 Mk2 is a better lens overall, both optically and ergonomically, though in the real life photography it is not that striking.

Sigma is visibly less sharp wide open towards corners especially at 50-70mm,has pronounced barrel distortion at wide end,has cooler and less saturated colour rendition,is heavier, bigger and sucks dust internally.Pictures taken with Sigma required more PP to look good, whereas those from Sony only a little.

I'm not saying Sigma is a bad lens - on the contrary,I liked it,it's output and can recommend it to anyone.Yet Sony just wins in my private ranking.

BTW: I apply less PP on Sony files and thus Sigma may look better, but in fact it is the other way round.
