Assuming 35mm is not worth considering because of distortion only means you have never shot a good 35mm lens. The 35GM, ZA 35/1.4, or Sigma Art 35/1.4 are all spectacular. They would be much more appropriate for cafe/street.
If you have the cash, the 50GM is unparalleled. The same could largely be said of the 35GM…and the 24GM…which is so we’ll corrected, you cam shoot portraits with a 24!
