I was feeling stronger today, so I decided to attend a Gem and Mineral show up in Fallbrook. I manned the gem and mineral identification and testing booth as a volunteer all afternoon. Then stopped for a nice Greek dinner on the way home. Great to be able to do things a bit more.
On the way home I noticed that we had a full harvest moon rising. As I drove by the Veterans Memorial on Mt Soledad I I saw the high clouds lighting the big cross in an interesting way. The harvest moon had drawn a crowd. Having never used my Leica m10-P for any kind of night or long exposure images I though I would stop and give it a go. This is a 4 second exposure, but I found I can set up to a 4 minute exposure right in camera. Nice feature. I shot this one standing right next to my car with the camera in a desktop tripod resting on the hood. I liked the motion in the people, and the clouds.
I also found the flare with the double spots in it interesting. I shot 4 frames total. That flare only showed up in this frame. Therefore I don't think the flare originated from the moon. My guess is that it is an artifact from a car's headlights pulling in or out of the parking lot at the memorial. This would explain the double spots, as well as the absence in the other frames. In any case I liked this flare in the image.
