Front diameter of that hood looks larger than 37mm, so wondering if just a straight 46mm tube/hood wouldn't do the same? Most such hoods I've found usually step up to the next largest filter size at the front, so in this case 49mm. To keep it at 46mm you'd probably do a 46-43 step down, then get a 43mm straight hood with a 46mm front diameter.
In any case, it's good news that the hood helps with side lighting induced flare.
I'm curious, if the 40mm has mini-MF coverage, how much wide open vignetting falloff is there on 24x36mm? I'd guess such a lens would be used mostly wide open or f/8...
