You make me remember about the funny story of 70-200GM lens, before Sony introduce the 70-200GM2 , the 70-200GM is something that top of the hill, some precious, a dream of most of photographers. I see everywhere people talk about how good , how beautiful of that len. But now, when the 70-200GM2 out , i read everywhere people talk about how trouble of the old 70-200gm, how bad of the 70-200gm, and even how we should avoid to buy a 70200GM.
Acttualy, Sony is not a good lens manufactory, they just enter this bussiness in 1990, and in beginning they need help from Zeiss (with over 170 years of expertise in precision optics) to design and quality control their lens. So i don't think Sony lens is something that top of the worlds, something that impossilble to gone wrong. They have a lot of bad quality copies, alot of batch has to call back to fix like the 50F1.4ZA , 1635GM, ..etc and alot of problems with their products, for example the over heat of A7M4 when record video recently.
