The pulsing in AF that some people describe is not an issue with the S5 and the latest firmware on the S1.
I personally think a used S1 is the best deal out there for a camera. Can find them for $1500 used.
Have a Panasonic S1 myself and love the camera. Great body design, great viewfinder, menus. Manual focus aids on it are fantastic. Favorite colors out of any system except Leica. You have the heavy zoom for ultimate image quality, but the 1.8 primes are fantastic.
