Do you have to take EVERY comment that anyone makes in the most negative possible way? I'm done with this drama Mike and I'm not engaging with you any more. However, I I urge you to step back and take a look at how your attitude interferes with your ability to get anything positive out of FM.

Bye.

For the OP’s purposes, I have a 5DsR and a full Fuji X system. Latter is lighter and cheaper. 5DsR is kept to satiate my desire for 50mpx. If I go into the R system, I might consider the R6. Can’t afford the RF lenses so it will be EF lenses with adapter.

That's where I'm coming from, too — I use the 5DsR that I got about the time that it was introduced for my tripod-based photography and a few other things. I have used the Fujifilm mirrorless APS-C system for close to a decade for my street, travel, and event photography.

For those who do a variety of types of photography, it can be a good thing to get more than one system, where each is optimized for a different sort of work.

I've learned over the years (OK, decades) that photography technology continues to advance in useful and good ways but that the immediate increment of improvement in new products is virtually always overstated. With few exceptions (but there are exceptions) this has reduced my sense that I must immediately jump to the newest thing. I do use new gear, but I tend to move from thing to thing a bit more slowly.

I'll keep using my 5DsR for now. While there are valid arguments that the R5 offers advantages over it, these advantages don't seem that gigantic, fully taking advantage of them would entail switching out EF lenses for newer RF lenses, and there's a very good chance that Canon is going to introduce something that is an even better update to my 5DsR. I'll be a bit jealous of the folks using the new R gear for a while... but not of their photographic results.

I'm the same with the Fujifilm system. Over the years I've acquired a very good and functional setup, with a range of lenses that meet my needs and more. But I managed to resist the allure of certain camera updates (still use my XPro2 with great results) and new lenses (again, they are often better than the old, but not in ways that will change my photography).

Another reason I'm going slow on the R updates is that the prospect of updating a slew of lenses suggests that I look even more broadly at system options from more manufacturers than Canon. With Canon DSLR updates, there was no reason to consider updating EF lenses, but a move to the R system would (despite the existence of the EF adapters) bring the purchase of RF lenses into the mix. And if replacing many very expensive lenses is on the table... so is the consideration of other brands. There's a lot to think about!
