I can tell you that Eye AF is great. Time will tell how great Eye Control AF is really going to be, but I don't have any issues selecting which set of eyes to follow now, I don't necessarily need the ability to have my eyes roam around the scene to set where the camera focuses. I put my starting AF point on the face I want to track, start AF, and let the camera do the rest, for people, animals, whatever.
As to mirrorless in general, I would have hoped your views have changed from two years ago, do you still agree with this from 2 years ago? After two years of even better mirrorless tech, and new products across the landscape, I hope your views have been a bit tempered now with real stories of success, how shooting is better and easier, etc?

And I wonder how much of the mirrorless craze is marketing? Paid reviews? How much is actual advantages?
It seems to be driven by Sony. Who couldn't pass the 5DsR for resolution for 4 years. Other than maybe the A9 series, nobody seems to think their af is faster. And still hasn't come out with a pro build body I don't think.
But, that's why I tend hate mirrorless anymore. It is basically coming in and telling me the type of camera I have to use , if I want a new camera.
Also I had stated a long time ago, I am envious that the SL2 and other Canon DSLRs work well for what you shoot. They don't for me. That means I spend quite a bit of money on this, but I am ok with that, as long as there are improvements in features, performance, ISO, IBIS, etc in every purchase. Heck, I just spent $500 for a DJI Mini 2 go-anywhere refurb package this week, so the money keeps walking out the door on things related to imagery. I want a new car to replace the boring Rav4 with 90K miles, but other things (like this hobby/part time career) keeps sucking money out of the "down payment" fund.
You started your post saying how you don't need the latest tech in the R3.
Then tried to make me look bad for not buying into the latest tech in the rest of the post.
I mean, what a load. I don't necessarily care too much if people like mirrorless , or at least, you should use the cameras you like. I'm not going to tell you that you must use dslr, because I like it. That would be stupid wouldn't it? But wait, that's what is being done to me.
Wow, there is no talking to you at all is there, on this topic? I am not trying to make you look bad, I am truly inquisitive on if you have changed your mind on anything regarding this.
Also, what I stated I don't think I care for above is a FEATURE on a CAMERA that isn't yet available, and has NOTHING to do with mirrorless. Canon could have put this feature into a DSLR if they wanted. For pete's sake, this existed in an earlier incarnation in FILM camera.
I would try to apologize (YET AGAIN, just like in our PMs), but I am not going to any longer. I am not out to get you nor attack you, but you seem to be doing that with me every chance you get. I am no longer going to be able to see your posts or PMs at this point, I just don't have patience any longer for your toxicity on this subject, nor am going to walk on eggshells with you on this.
