Assuming this conversation is about the used market, in Ontario, Quebec and Alberta, used A7 iii can frequently be found for as low as $1900 or even lower. Right now, I see some for as low as $1850 on Kijiji (in Ontario or Alberta). Somebody is selling an A7r iii for only $1850 (in Quebec)! BC must be different. Used market seems much smaller there in comparison. So I wouldn't be surprised if the lower cap is higher over there.
Of course, it can never be as good as it is in the US.

As impressed as I am with performance on the A7IV I cannot help to think that a) Sony got a bit greedy on the price, it would have been a few hundred less, and b) Sony "dumbed down" some performance in order to protect other products. While the AF seems amazing, I suspect that Sony could have easily added some more frames per second, improved sensor read-out speeds to avoid some e-shutter wobble, or done 4K 60 video on full-frame read-out. But adding any of those could potentially cut into A7SIII or A1 sales...
Regardless, this will be all the cameras 90% of the people need out there - on par or better than the Canon R6 in almost any aspect and with an open lens mount system with endless possibilities to use 3rd party glass. Class leader.
What makes the A74 a non pro camera?

On the plus side, maybe now the price of a used A7 III will finally drop below the cost of a brand new one.
I've seen used A73's go for under $1300. That's not too bad.
I'm not sure where you shop, but around here the going price is about $2300 or so for a used A7 III body.
Last one to hit Henry’s was $1999 CAD, that was about a week and a half ago.
