I started in "74. Saw 7 moose in a flowage in northern Maine and wished I had a camera. That started it. I started with a Minolta SRT 101 and a 400mm Bushnell lens. I shot 5254 film for a while. I think it was the same film they used for motion pictures in California. I thought I knew what I was doing. Truth is that I did not have a clue.
I tried many times to capture a sharp BIF with the manual focus then. No way. Maybe someone else got the rare sharp image but I concluded that it was virtually impossible. I remember thinking "maybe one day they will have cameras that will focus on flying birds".
I never dreamed that I would live to see this incredible technology! Now, I take it for granted and I am not sure I like that. Oh, I am grateful to be able to capture sharp birds in flight. But where does it end.
The speed at which it is going, the camera will do everything. No? It's beginning to seem like a possibility to me.
