Yes, the D6 and 800mm slow down somewhat at f/8, but not appreciably.
I conducted tests with & without the TC 1.25 in both Group mode and Single point AF. Wide open , the longest it took to capture 14 frames was 993 milliseconds. That works out to 14.1fps. Stopping down to f/8, the longest sequence was 1019 milliseconds, or 13.74 fps. My battery was at about 75%
