The Sigma 28-70mm 2.8 is still on my radar but will wait for the 35-135mm. I have primes in this range and I use a zoom mostly for around the house and hiking. I don't care about the size in those situations. When I'm out in public places, I prefer the smallest package overall. So sigma 24mm 3.5 and 45mm 2.8 work great for that.
I just hope the bokeh on the 35-135mm is very good. Doesn't have to be excellent, just not harsh.
