Re: Sony A1 freezing

I always have some real sympathy for an adventurous and intrepid company like Sony's camera/sensor divisions--"to boldly go where no man has gone before" and all that. I am more critical of Canon, who stood pat with very minimal improvements in technology and performance for many years.

Sony, on the other hand, launched mirrorless and have very aggressively introduced new models with complex new features and ground-breaking lens designs. The only problems that I recall with distributed products (there are probably some I don't remember) were two lenses (I think), both of which they ran very timely and competent recall and repair programs for.

They are dealing with very sophisticated, cutting edge electronics, optics, physics, manufacturing, marketing, and distribution in a very demanding and competitive environment. Most of us buy their gear because they do all this better and faster than anyone else. And they have been doing it through earthquakes, tsunami, floods, and a pandemic.

How many rockets have Elon Musk and Jeff Bezos blown apart trying to get one to fly right?

When you are pushing the envelope, there will be some paper cuts, but nothing that is happening with recent Sony products is a serious problem. And whatever it is will get fixed.

The A1 is a truly fabulous camera. Take pictures. Drink wine. Eat dinner.

Makes me tired thinking about it.
