Another real world scenario for those of us who shoot with the versatile 61MP A7R4:
Sigma 100-400 f5-6.3 in APS-C mode yielding 26MP file =
Sigma 100-400 = 600mm f6.3
Sony 100-400 f4.5-5.6 in APS-C mode yielding 26MP file =
Sony 100-400 = 600mm f5.6
Tamron 150-500 in APS-C mod(set to 400mm on zoom ring) yielding 26 MP file
Tamron 100-500 = 600mm f6.3 (slows to f6.7 at about 450mm)
(The difference between f5.6 and f6.3 is only 1/2 f-stop. The Sigma is by far the lightest option which is why I bought it, too.)
