Thank you very much, Douglas! When I was in Ecuador the first time around in late 2019, the racket tails were not fully developed yet. I am glad that I had the opportunity to see and photograph that bird in adulthood… finally.
Joshua, are you saying this is the same bird you photographed in 2019? Just curious how you know it’s the same one?
Hi Douglas, I saw and photographed some juvenile specimens of this hummingbird in 2019. On the last trip, I did see and photograph some adult specimens that showed a fully developed tail. To be honest, I am not sure whether the location of the two is the same or not. In other words, I don’t think that this is the same specimen I photographed back then. I don’t know the life expectancy of this hummingbird species either. Sorry for the confusion.
