Re: FM Review: Voigtlander 35mm f/2 APO-Lanthar

I only have an a7R III....so I think I'll just wait to judge until I can compare. Given that these are on the a7R IV, realistically I can't compare given what I see.

Not saying it is going to blow these away...but I think it will hang. I'd be happy if the CV handily beat the CV 35 though.

From a landscape shooting perspective, I think my Tamron could give both of these lenses a run for the money. The Sigma looks really good from a rendering perspective, at least against the CV. I could see me picking it up as my general AF/rendering/jack of all trades lens. That leaves the CV up against my Tamron. The MF experience will be worlds better with the CV, but I think the Tamron will hold up (or be better at some apertures) from an image perspective.

Hi Tim,
The Tamron 35/2.8 does perform great at infinity but it's unlikely it will do better than these lenses. The CV has a very strong mid-field and very few 35mm lenses will match this.
If you do get to test them at infinity, please post it here so I can link it to the review.

I wouldn't be surprised if it doesn't do clost to better in the corners, at f/4, than the CV 35 sample you posted. I will definitely do a comparison at some point. It has to be clear and we get a lot of gunky/humid air at times. And I have to actually get my lens...
