When the a1 was first announced I called my local dealer and had asked if anyone else had called. He said “No, so you’ll be first on the list.” I called today and they said they didn’t get any. The owner of the store emailed me this a few minutes ago...
“We did get one for a Sony Pro member that must go to that member
You will get the next one that comes in that is for general public.
Sign up for Sony Pro and all products will be expedited for you now and in future.”
No idea when the next shipment is coming and I already sold my Leica system to return back to Sony. I have to cancel the project I have for this weekend since I booked it on the word of the owner saying I would get the first one. Being that there’s no word when the next one will come in I probably have to return the lenses I had picked up again because I have no way to test them for decentering until I have a body to use. Up until this past Friday the shop owner had reassured me that when the first one came in I would be getting it and it would probably be today.
From what I’ve been reading here, I assume he knew there was a pro ahead of me - or could anyone with Sony Pro status just call at any time and immediately jump to the front of the list?
