Just received Batis 18 yesterday. Hard to believe it has been five years since it was introduced! Conditions were not raining, but certainly very little sunlight available!
The lens is much lighter than I expected, and not too large without the hood mounted. I used a Hoya HMC Super filter to protect from any elements (I normally don't use filters).
As reviews have said, the central area is extremely sharp wide open at f/2.8, and best overall frame coverage seems to be my typical f/8.0.
