I ordered mine from B&H and on my order it is still claiming 22-Feb-21 as the target ship date. I was in no rush but now that I have sold both my 35mm (f/1.8 and f/1.4) I admit I would like that to be the actual ship date.
Will just have to wait, sit tight, and see. The things that make me feel that later in February is more likely than April is that some have already received it in Europe. That and the fact that B&H only pushed out their data, posted on their website, by a week.

Not to derail the topic too much, but how did you like your 1.8?
I'm in the market for my first 35 mm AF lens, and am debating whether to go for the GM or the 1.8.
Completely different beasts, I know, but what, to you, were the things that "bothered" you about the 1.8?

Unsolicited opinion -

The 35/1.8 is one of a good number of lenses in the system that a minority find wanting.

(28, 35/2.8, 35/1.8, 55/1.8, 24-70/4, 35/1.4 ZA, among others)

In fairness none of them are perfect but (and it's a big but) the truth is that if you are image-centric rather than opinion-centric you will find many thousands of lovely images from all of those lenses.

Amazing what some people can do with substandard gear !

Sure the GM has better IQ. That's how it should be given the substantial increase in size and price .

IMO that doesn't take from the 35/1.8. It's a great little lens that can support your effort to create memorable images.

Fully agreed. Just visit www.juzaphoto.com and dig into the Sony lenses section. First you may notice that the lenses have ratings that are quite different than the "common knowledge" here. Then, once you look at the photos, you'll pretty much like all the lenses.

How can that be?

Quite simple. People there are good photographers who post only their best photos with a specific lens. Where the lens is used to its full potential, consistent to its purpose and characteristics. And if you find juzaphoto to be too selective, you can always go to flickr groups where you can also find great images taken with about any lens.

Come back here and you'll find a lens trashing fest were people compete into taking the crappiest photos possible and then arguing forever which is worst, lens A or B. And when they can't find enough reasons to fully trash a lens, they will invent some too.
