What catches my eye in that review is the amount of dust that seems to be inside their copy. Dust inside a lens shows up in bokeh balls.
You see the dust, but also all these rows of small dots. As if something went wrong during the production of the aspherical elements. Full res example from their review

I don't think so. I believe a dirty sensor would show spots only in one part of the image, not in every bokeh ball. This part of the review bothered me too. It looks a lot like internal dust. If it is a little circular spot it could be a manufacturing defect in the glass, but it doesn't look like that is what it is there. I feel like I will have to do a thorough job inspecting for dust when the lens arrives with a pinpoint light source.
