Re: NIKON NEWS -- Worse than I thought (*NOT my words).
I remembered when I got D70 in 2004, Nikon had only aps-c D100 and D70 (OK and a D1 with 2.7 mp that not many people was paying attention to by 2004) , Canon had aps-c, 1.3 cropped sensor then FF sensor. While Canon went to 12 mp while Nikon was stuck at 6mp then 21mp when Nikon finally made it to 12mp. CMOS and CCD war was over (and I really missed my 1/8000s flash sync speed). At that time, everything looked very bleak for Nikon and grass was much greener on the other side. Then thing started to turn around with D3/D300+ D700.
Nikon's line up now does not look as bleak as 2004-2006 period and they built a solid foundation with Z mount. They only just started to fill their products at various price point and it will be awhile longer before Z mount lens line up will be big enough to attract new comers rather than just maintaining old customer base.
Granted that this time, Nikon's job is more difficult as the market is shrinking rather than expanding like in the early 2000's. I think we just have to wait and see what will happened. Certainly this is a crucial time for Nikon and if they can't deliver, may be in 2-3 years time, it will definitely be a bad bad time for Nikon.
