NIKON NEWS -- Worse than I thought (*NOT my words).

Ken Wheeler is not my favorite source of information. His style is not appealing to me. But, he sometime is ahead of the curve on some things, and does have a lot of connections in the industry including Nikon.

It is worth taking note that earlier this year he got offended when Nikon didn't include him, and provide him with review samples of some new releases.

It is clear that of the big 3 camera companies Nikon is facing the biggest challenges technologically, and financially. OK, that happens, and is often a cyclical thing. However, rumors/opinions such as this are becoming more widespread, and more frequently expressed. This is worrisome on two levels. First "where there is smoke, there is often fire". Second, if this view becomes widespread enough it can become a self fulfilling prophecy. and discourage people from buying a company's products.

Let's hope this is just bad feelings on Wheeler's part, and is B.S. or at least greatly exaggerated.

I agree. His 'style' (or lack thereof) does turn a lot of people off. But, like you so eloquently stated, he is also 'ahead' of the curve
(On some things)... Such as when he previously reported on the state of Olympus -- In late 2019.

I too, would wholeheartedly agree with you about the state of the the 'Major' Camera Manufacturers.
IMO only... It would 'appear' that Sony, Canon, FujiFilm and 'perhaps' even Panasonic are all in a better Financial position moving forward -- Than what Nikon currently is?
--
Yes... That is is a very valid point!
I also think that Ken was quite 'Hurt' that Nikon did not previously send him a Nikon Z5 for review.

However, I also think that Ken is correct when he says that Nikon is a bit of an 'arrogant' company --
That still thinks that they are too big to ever fail ('think' Kodak, IBM etc).
--
As noted by others in this thread already... Ken is definitely a Nikon' guy. Therefore, I am pretty sure, that his video is not based on 'mere' bad feelings -- Any more than his 'previous' Olympus video was.

It also should be noted... That nowhere does Ken say that he thinks that Nikon is ever going to fail, disappear or totally go under. However, he does say in his comments that (*In his opinion only) that they may 'eventually' be Bought-out/Sold/Restructured/ etc.? ? ?

Like my original post stated... I guess "Only Time Will Tell" what the 'current' state of Nikon's Financial Affairs truly is and what "May Or May Not" take place in their short-term future.

Hopefully... It will all turn out for the very best!
