Used 300 F/2.8 with TC's or new 500mmPF? Both are in or around the same price range.
I have the 1.7xTC this would bring me to a 510 F/4.8 I believe on the 300mm. Thoughts on how the lens handles TC's? From the looks of things.. little to no loss in sharpness? I'm guess AF slows some? Weight and size...the 500 wins I'd love to know your thoughts about the questions above if you've shot with both.

300 2.8 for me any day, you can always go to 500 5.6 with the 300 2.8, but you can never go to 2.8 with the 500pf.
I consider the 300 2.8 and the 400 2.8 Nikon's most versatile and sharpest lenses. Weight difference is not an issue
for me, I always prefer fast glass.
