These are incredible... Not only are the behavioral interactions a treat, but you have gorgeous light with no sticks cutting through the birds. Green herons can be such a challenge because they love to hang wherever sticks and cattails block a clean view.

Thank you all very much! @bruce, the tree where this particular nest is in has several bare branches hanging over the lake, the background is pretty far away too. The chicks often stood on one of the bare branches to wait for the parents to feed them. Most of the time I could get clean shots with sticks, #1 and 3 actually had a few small sticks on the right side of the frame, nothing really got in front of the birds themselves. I just learned how to clone them out in PS to clean it up a bit. Thank you for commenting!
